Our Training Philosophy Gentle Solutions Training uses force free, gentle, dog friendly, reward training methods. No pain, no fear, no choke chains, no throw chains, no yelling, no scary stuff. We reward for co-operation and effort and don't punish failure. "Violence
begins where knowledge ends" Abraham Lincoln
At Gentle Solutions, we feel very strongly that a successful relationship is created between dog and human by building trust and mutual understanding. We believe in and use humane training methods that enhance the communication between handler and dog . We teach our classes using positive-reinforcement based training and encourage the use of humane "people empowering" techniques in our classes. We do not use or tolerate harsh and inhumane punishment-based methods, as we feel that this type of punishment breaks down the relationship between dog and handler and in itself, escalates aggression. About Us
Erika Linnen owns and operates Gentle Solutions Dog Training. Erika has been involved in dog training for over 10 years. Her training experience started at the local training club. Her interest in dog training and behavior immediately grew from having a large, very dog aggressive mixed breed dog who, with work, became a wonderful pet and companion. Erika was also involved with the Regina Jr. Kennel club where she volunteered as an obedience and agility instructor. She also worked in a board and train kennel and as a service dog trainer. In addition Erika has attended training and behavioral seminars with these leading North American Canine Trainers and Behaviorists: Donna Duford, Steve White, Gary Wilkes, Jean Donaldson, Leslie Nelson, Dr. Pamela Reid, Kim Anderson, Cheryl Bartlett, Deb Rhodes, Pat Krebs, Sue Ailsby and Dr. Ian Dunbar. Erika shares her home with 5 Austrailan Shepherds who LOVE clicker training. Erika enjoys many activities with her dogs which include Obedience, Rally-O, Flyball, Agility, Conformation showing, Tracking, tricks, games and a bit of retriever training. She is vice-president of Prairie Australian Shepherd Enthusiasts, on the Board of Directores for Prarie Assistance Dogs Inc. (one of the first Service dog organizations in North America to use only positive training methods) and a member of ASCA, AAC, and the RKOC. |
